At any given moment, we are subjected to an over-stimulus of information—flooded by opinion articles, breaking news notifications, social media polls, and television talk shows [22:56]. But in a culture packed with information, we often find ourselves completely bankrupt of true insight.

In a deep, timely message at Cornerstone Church titled “The Wealth of Wisdom,” guest speaker Pastor Jonathan Perry unpacked what it means to cut through the noise of the world and access the pure, unadulterated strategy of God.

The enemy’s strategy hasn’t changed since the creation of humanity. Looking back at Genesis 3, Pastor Jonathan outlined three ways the adversary actively sabotages the flow of God’s wisdom in our lives [12:23]:

  1. He Questions the Truth: The serpent immediately tried to get Eve to doubt God’s logic. We must remember that God’s thoughts and ways operate on a completely different, higher plane than human approaches to life [12:45].

4 Practical Steps to Obtain Godly Wisdom

If you are tired of relying on counterfeit shortcuts, Pastor Jonathan highlighted four intentional disciplines to safely capture the wealth of God’s wisdom [17:10]:

1. Ask for It

When was the last time you actively stopped and asked God for wisdom regarding your business, your children, or your finances [18:49]? James 1:5 promises that if you lack wisdom, you can ask God. More importantly, God is a generous giver who will never belittle, mock, or reproach you for your past bad choices [19:35]. He doesn’t hold grudges; He simply drops the answer into your life [19:57].

2. Study the Blueprint

You cannot operate in wisdom if you don’t know the Book [20:15]. Psalm 119:11 says, “I have stored up your word in my heart, that I might not sin against you.” Your heart comprises your mind, your will, and your emotions [20:38]. If you store the world’s noise in your emotions, you will live out of anger; if you store it in your mind, you will live out of confusion [20:49]. Store the Word instead, so it becomes your automatic default setting.

3. Listen to the Voice

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” — John 10:27 [22:09]

God is constantly speaking, but His voice is routinely drowned out by our cultural over-stimulus [22:01]. To hear the Holy Spirit in the deepness of your valley, you must intentionally turn off the screens, quiet the environment, and cultivate the art of listening [23:18].

4. Connect It to the Atmosphere

The ultimate challenge is integrating abstract wisdom into your day-to-day lifestyle [23:59]. How do you connect it? Through your tongue. Psalm 37:30 notes that the mouth of the righteous utters wisdom [24:23]. Your tongue holds the power of life and death; when you speak God’s perspective into a chaotic room, you physically alter the atmosphere [24:44].

Pastor Jonathan noted that in the Gospels, Jesus was asked over a hundred questions, but He only directly answered three. He always responded to a question with a question because He didn’t want to just pass out sterile information—He wanted to lead people to true revelation [26:52].

When you go to work or interact with your family, don’t just aggressively quote chapter and verse. Connect wisdom practically by asking open-ended, insightful questions like: “What if we looked at it from this angle?” or “What would it look like if we moved in this direction?” [27:37]
